Al Jessa, VP of Operations

Al Jessa, a former high school debating champion and crack field
goal kicker went to University for Biochemistry and left to become
a dishwasher at Earl’s restaurants. If that sounds like
a step back, read on. Before long Al was a sous chef, then Kitchen
Leader at Earls and soon after, a red seal chef. The adventure
continued with a promotion to Head Chef at the flagship Earls Tin
Palace in North Vancouver. By 1993 Al was regional chef for BC
region and became part of what were the best sales increases
amongst all Earl’s regions. Al joined Joeys in 1996 as
executive chef and helped the chain grow from 6 to 9 stores in just
3 months. In the same year he was certified by the Canadian
Federation of Chef with CCC designation (Certified Chef de
Cuisine). Al’s tenacious work has been instrumental in
the transition from pizza and pasta to global cuisine. He was
promoted to Vice President in 2003.
